Build A "Fold up" Space Shuttle Glider!
Follow the instructions below to download, print, and assemble your
1:200th scale US Space Shuttle. Use the image below as a rough guide
while following the instructions...
Step 1: Download and print the three required image files linked below.
A heavier stock paper should be used when printing to provide a sturdier flying model.
Step 2: Color (optional) and cut out all parts using scissors. Cut out V-shaped notches on Fuselage to create tabs along the outer edge.
Step 3: Sparsely glue the top and bottom halves of the wing assemblies together, inserting the three nose "weight" pieces between the halves at the nose of the shuttle prior to gluing the larger pieces.
Step 4: Fold fuselage in half along the middle line. Starting at the nose, glue or tape the Fuselage to the top of the wing assembly. Match the tabs of the fuselage exactly to those found on the top of the wing assembly. To close the nose, glue or tape the two halves together using tabs provided.
Step 5: Fold Tail section in middle so halves match up. Fold out the two rectangular tabs (A and B) at the bottom of the tail. Glue the tail halves together, leaving the tabs folded out and unglued.
Step 6: Glue the completed tail section to the fuselage, matching tab A on the tail with point A on the fuselage and tab B on the tail with point B on the fuselage.
Preflight Instructions: For best results, launch your shuttle glider with a gentle, LEVEL toss. Bend the body flap (tab at rear of wing assembly) up slightly for greater lift.
